Letter to My Children (November 10, 2021)
I’ve written about the building of this log cabin. Putting the photos into an album eventually. On a Thursday, it was time to dig a trench for underground electric, our excavator guy was backlogged due to rain earlier in the month. So Rob rented an excavator and did it. The electrician was pleased, the two of them installed the 300 feet of line within a few hours. Weather was perfect, everything ahead of schedule, and power was turned on at the cabin by the following Monday. How did they build the Erie Canal?!
Working on this place has been an adventure. When Uncle Larry, Aunt Gretel, and cousin Pam, stopped by, I was away. But a note and small gift was left on top of a stack of tile! Yesterday a neighbor of a small horse farm, brought lasagna for supper. Earlier this week, a cousin dropped off a keg of cider that he’d pressed from his apples. Good people do nice things for others. I raised you to be kind to your family (parents, siblings, spouses, children, grandparents, extended relatives) and to your neighbors. Doing good. When people hear your name, they know…oh that person takes good care of their mom and their kids, etc….you get the idea.
Unfortunately, your names are known for not speaking to your parents, under the tutelage of those you associate with. (So both you and THEY have bad reputations.) But when you stop this nonsense, that will change. The happiness of our family will know no bounds. Love and hugs dear hearts of mine. See you soon!
