Repost | Obey the Prophets and Prosper (6/16/15)

Let’s get right to it, shall we?
Tactics writes:
This is Calvary Temple-ese for “Do what I tell you or else!” per Pastor Scott. Recently Pastor has been strutting his stuff in order to remind us who’s boss. We are getting a bit disgruntled by the exposure of our less than savoury side. I mean we try to put our makeup on, in order to wow the masses. And Pastor has told us we are a beautiful thing. But facts are awfully stubborn things. The more people tell us we are not the beautiful thing we’ve been led to believe, the more grumpy we are getting. And harder for Pastor to control. Then come Obey Me, saith the Prophet Scott sermons – titled above. Sigh.
Tactics then highlights a teaching from Pastor David Wilkerson of Times Square Church, posted over a decade ago, warning against seeker-friendly churches and, more importantly, wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Bob Scott, the leader of Calvary Temple, is no ordinary “pastor.” He isn’t your typical seeker-friendly preacher, nor is he an obvious wolf. That’s the problem. At first glance, Calvary Temple appears pristine—immaculate grounds, well-mannered congregants, and a tightly orchestrated environment where everyone adheres. Bob Scott presents himself as a “Word Only” pastor, seemingly above gimmicks or games. Yet, make no mistake—no one walks away uncertain about who is in control.
And that is the point of this Tactics piece.
A Reckoning in Sterling, Virginia
Think back to the summer of 2015. That Easter, Bob Scott and members of his Deacon board were accused of child sexual abuse, destroying families, and casting out “disobedient” children with nothing but the clothes on their backs. As these allegations surfaced, the media interviewed former Calvary Temple members while we protested outside the church.
In other words, Bob Scott was confronted.
Scott talks a good game. He claims to love God and uphold the Word. He even told The Washington Post that he doesn’t dictate people’s choices—that he isn’t responsible for what his congregants (or ex-congregants) do.
But his words ring hollow.
He might not say, “Do this, or else,” in so many words, but his message is crystal clear: disobedience to Bob Scott comes with consequences.
My Family’s Story
Countless testimonies expose Scott’s authoritarian grip. For me, one instance stands out—my family’s final encounter with his dictates.
If you’ve followed my story, you’ve heard this before. But for those who haven’t: In 2008, my oldest son was the last Freeman attending Calvary Temple. My youngest son and I had already left. While living with me during my divorce, my oldest was approached by two Calvary Temple leaders. He was ordered to move out of my house—immediately. That very night.
If he refused, there would be consequences, per “Pastor” Scott.
He would be placed on “visitor status,” barred from all church gatherings and events, and shunned until he complied.
Praise God—my son walked away from Calvary Temple that night!
The Mask Slips
Bob Scott is a liar. He projects an image of godliness while wielding fear and manipulation. What I appreciate about this particular post from Tactics is that back in June 2015, even members inside Calvary Temple began to see the cracks. They were beginning to recognize the wolf beneath the sheep’s clothing.
In the last 15+ years, many have left Calvary Temple. God continues to expose this place. Yet, as in every authoritarian church, some remain—fixated on a man, Bob Scott, rather than on God.
But rest assured, it isn’t over until God says it’s over. And that’s good enough for me.
I will keep watching. I will keep writing. I will remain a watchman on the wall.
A Warning to the Community
Stay far away from Bob Scott and Calvary Temple in Sterling, VA. Never forget that Calvary Temple is still under active investigation for child sexual abuse by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), with at least one arrest and conviction to date.
To Bob Scott: Bow the knee, Bob. Admit what you’ve done—publicly. Be a man. Accept the consequences. Jesus is faithful and just to forgive, but you must humble yourself. And sooner rather than later would be wise.
To Loudoun County Residents: There are many wonderful churches in the area—consider visiting Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, VA.
To my readers: Just because the protests no longer take place, or local journalists are not clamoring for a story, does not mean that Calvary Temple is any less dangerous. If you value your family, your children, and your own well-being—STAY AWAY FROM CALVARY TEMPLE. Too many lives have already been damaged, and the harm continues for those who remain.

But God says, “But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness” (Matthew 6:23). “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them” (Matthew 7:15-20).
